Sometimes, you boys who have Daddies take them for granted.

God's Boys will be good boys!

My father, even as an old man, would sigh with loss when he would see little boys with their fathers. That was his favorite thing, in the world to be able to be. He fought, himself and his passions and his disloyalties to make sure that he could be a husband and a father. A relationship that he felt was stolen from him as a child, made him passionate about its importance.
He made alot of mistakes and was far from the model of this role; but, he did point out the examples that made him drool for that relationship and nurture those relationships in his life.
He pointed out every wicked passion in us and others that would make it impossible to maintain relationships with that. "Snake in the grass" was the worst epithet for him to murmur at our behavior. He showed us, if you want to be a snake, I will show you how to be a snake. He used his negative examples of intense knowledge of the most debased human behavior, in terms of loyalties to show us an emotional 3D picture of what it means to be a snake. It hurt emotionally more than a spanking ever could. No one can say things that pigeonhole you as much as a father. He couldn't know that, because he never had one. The scriptures show us the power of a father. God says, even if a child or daughter makes a vow and her father disallows it, he has the ability to mark her course. That was in Numbers. I think that this is really the case. It is very hard to get away from the dillineation that our fathers make of us.
I think that the one thing missing in this generation, is men who will be brave enough to chart a course for their children, in terms of character and roles and life. "I want you to...be blessed and prosper". After that, I want you to do battle with the spiritual wickednesses in high places. The pen is mightier than the sword? The video?

A box of clothes and sneakers from your uncle.

God's Boys will be good boys!

What an amazingly large and generous gift you received, from that uncle Matthew! Wow! You are blessed, my boy. You have uncles and people who love you on many different levels. God has lent us these varied loves in our lives. The feeling in your heart when someone has singled you out and thought to give to you, is priceless. It is parallel to salvation.
God has selected us out of the multitude and though everyone around us may be saved. Jesus' love is specific to me.
He thought of me, from the realms of glory, who has worlds at His command, who is concerned with the creation and the maintenance of the universe. He thought of me. His sacrifice was for me. His mercy daily is for me. His eternal life is for me. Others may come to Him, but my only concern is that His salvation is a box and treasure, just for me.
Thank God for His treasures of the loves of uncles and sisters and brothers and aunts and father and mother. But more, Thank God for the box of treasures in the mercies of Christ!
